The President Watch

The Day-Date is the only Rolex that displays both the day of the week (spelled out in full at 12 o'clock) and the date at 3 o'clock. Introduced in 1956, it was the first wristwatch to offer this complication — and Rolex has produced it exclusively in precious metals ever since. No steel Day-Date has ever existed. This exclusivity earned it the nickname "The President" after it became the watch of choice for heads of state, from Lyndon B. Johnson to modern-day leaders.

The Day-Date is available in two sizes: the classic 36mm and the modern 40mm introduced in 2015. Both ride on the President bracelet — Rolex's semi-circular three-link design with concealed Crownclasp — which is exclusive to the Day-Date and not available on any other Rolex model.

Materials and Configurations

The Day-Date is produced in four metals: yellow gold, white gold, Everose gold, and platinum. Each metal comes with specific dial options — platinum gets the exclusive ice-blue, Everose gets olive green and chocolate, yellow gold gets the classic champagne and white. Dial marker options include stick indices, Roman numerals, diamond-set markers, and baguette diamonds.
