Eisenkiesel is a naturally occurring crystalline quartz stone that Rolex cuts and polishes into unique dial surfaces. Each eisenkiesel dial has a distinct texture and color pattern — grey-silver with natural crystalline inclusions that no two dials share. Rolex uses eisenkiesel exclusively on precious-metal references, most notably on the Day-Date 40 (228349RBR in white gold with diamond bezel) and select Datejust configurations.
The stone dial is Rolex's most exclusive non-metal dial material alongside meteorite. Production is extremely limited due to the difficulty of sourcing and cutting stone to the precise tolerances Rolex demands.
