Rolex's Rubber Bracelet — Engineered Differently
The Oysterflex is Rolex's answer to the rubber strap — but it's not rubber. It's a flexible metal blade (thin titanium-nickel alloy) overmolded with high-performance black elastomer. The metal core provides structural rigidity that conventional rubber straps lack, preventing stretching and deformation. The elastomer exterior is resistant to UV, saltwater, and chemicals. The result is a bracelet that wears like rubber but performs like metal.
Rolex introduced the Oysterflex in 2015 on the Yacht-Master 116655 (Everose gold, ceramic bezel). It has since expanded to the Daytona, Sky-Dweller, and Day-Date in precious metals. The Oysterflex is available exclusively on precious-metal references — no steel Rolex has ever been paired with it.
Models Available on Oysterflex
Daytona (116518LN, 116519LN) — Yellow gold and white gold Daytonas on Oysterflex. The rubber strap transforms the Daytona from a dressy chronograph into a sport-luxury piece. Lighter on the wrist than the metal bracelet equivalent.
Yacht-Master (116655, 226659) — The original Oysterflex platform. Everose gold or white gold with black ceramic bezel. The Oysterflex was designed with the Yacht-Master's nautical intent in mind.
Sky-Dweller (326235, 326238) — Gold Sky-Dwellers on Oysterflex. The strap brings the large 42mm Sky-Dweller closer to casual wear — the metal bracelet Sky-Dweller can feel formal; the Oysterflex version reads as sport-luxury.
